A New Bedford manufacturing plant lost part of its roof this weekend.

Fire Chief Michael Gomes says a 12-by-14 foot section of roof collapsed Sunday evening at Rodney Metals on East Rodney French Boulevard, probably because of the weight of wet snow.

Although people were in the plant, the Chief says no one was hurt. Its the first roof collapse in New Bedford this winter.

Gomes says the roof collapsed in a remote area of the plant.

He says eight or nine support beams were also shattered, and a water pipe was broken as well. No estimate of damage was available
