WAREHAM (WBSM) — The new owner of the former Lindsey’s Restaurant on the Cranberry Highway in Wareham has begun renovations to turn it into his latest Towne Tavern & Tap location.

As part of that renovation, he is offering up some iconic pieces of the Lindsey’s experience to anyone who wants them, while also giving WBSM an update on when to expect Towne Tavern & Tap to open.

“We are working hard on things,” owner Dave Barry said Tuesday. “(We’re) hoping (to open) by November.”

Barry had previously told us that he was going to wait until after the busy summer season at his other two locations, in North Attleboro and Pembroke, before beginning work on the Lindsey’s property.

He confirmed to WBSM back in May that he had purchased the legendary family restaurant that closed in November 2022 after 74 years in business.

Now that the renovations have begun in Wareham, Barry has placed some of the booths and tables from Lindsey’s “diner” section out in front of the building for the taking.

“I reupholstered all of the other booths and ordered new additional ones,” he said.

So if you want to own a piece of Lindsey’s history, head on over to the Cranberry Highway, but act quickly before someone else snatches them up.

When it comes to what to expect from Towne Tavern & Tap, Barry told us back in May that it will have something for everyone.

“It’s still going to be that family restaurant, just with more of all generations of offerings. It’s a very eclectic menu,” he said. “We’re not looking to replicate what Lindsey’s did, even though it was successful for so many years, but we are going to have seafood.”

The Towne Tavern & Tap menus feature items such as carne asada fries, lobster poutine, ahi tuna wontons, korean fried chicken, prime rib mac and cheese, and pizzas made with their house-made pizza sauce and other combinations such as a pastrami and pickle pizza.
