Fairhaven and Wareham Are Getting Brand New Spirit Halloween Stores
Big news for fans of all things spooky, as Spirit Halloween will be opening new locations in Fairhaven and Wareham next month.
The new spots will add two of the SouthCoast’s shopping hubs into the Spirit family, allowing more Halloween fans to stock up on decorations, trinkets, animatronics, and of course, costumes.
According to Fortune, Spirit Halloween brings in about $2 billion a year in revenue – not too shabby for a chain whose physical locations are only open for about three months a year (Spirit sells online all year long).

Where Spirit Halloween Is Opening in Fairhaven
Spirit Halloween will be occupying the building in the Fairhaven Commons shopping plaza that formerly housed American Freight, and before that, Sears Appliance and Hardware.
Sears closed down the location back in 2016, and American Freight opened in 2021. In 2024, the furniture, mattress and appliance retailer closed all of its stores, and the Fairhaven Commons building has sat empty ever since.
Where Spirit Halloween Is Opening in Wareham
The Wareham location will be in the former Sleepy’s store in the Cranberry Plaza, next to Stop & Shop. The mattress retailer opened up shop there around 2011 but the chain was acquired by Mattress Firm in 2015 and the Wareham location closed not long after.
Other SouthCoast Spirit Halloween Stores Opening in 2026
Last year, Spirit Halloween operated 28 locations across Massachusetts, including SouthCoast locations in Dartmouth and Seekonk, with Raynham and Barnstable also close by. Dartmouth was one of only two communities in Massachusetts (along with Shrewsbury) to actually have two Spirit Halloween locations, one in the former Office Max in the Dartmouth Towne Center shopping plaza and the other in the former Christmas Tree Shops location on Faunce Corner Road.
This year, Spirit Halloween is only going to have one location in Dartmouth, the former Office Max. The former Christmas Tree Shops site is set to become a Big Y Supermarket, with an expected opening of the spring or summer of 2027.

In addition to the Seekonk store returning for 2026, there will also be a location in Swansea.
Spirit Halloween operated over 1,500 locations across the U.S. and Canada in 2025. The seasonal retailer began as a pop-up store in New Jersey in 1983. Original founder Joseph Marver was able to expand to 60 stores before he sold the chain to Spencer Gifts (now known as Spencer’s) in 1999. It has also moved into the holiday season in recent years, with select Spirit Christmas stores opening up, including one in Dartmouth.
