When the legendary Lindsey’s Family Restaurant on Wareham’s Cranberry Highway permanently closed on November 28, there was a mixture of sadness, outrage and disappointment heard across the SouthCoast.

Then, the inevitable question came: what do you do if you have a Lindsey’s gift card?

Last weekend, Lindsey’s posted to its Facebook page that it was working on a plan for reimbursement of any unused gift cards. This came on the heels of a Buzzards Bay self-described “dive bar” offering 10 percent off food to anyone who brought in their Lindsey’s gift card to TJ’s Grill & Bar.

On December 6, Lindsey’s again posted to Facebook its plan for reimbursing outstanding gift cards, which owner Cheri Lindsey and her daughter Debi Lindsey told the Wareham Board of Selectmen on Tuesday night added up to about $10,000 in unused gift cards still out there.

In the latest post, Lindsey’s stated that “we have worked hard with our professional advisors and were able to take some time to get our bearings,” and have created an email address, Lindseys1948@gmail.com, to address any questions regarding the restaurant’s closing, including inquiring about reimbursement for a gift card.

How to Be Reimbursed for a Lindsey’s Gift Card

To inquire about a gift card, Lindsey’s asks that you include the following:

  • A picture of your receipt
  • The number of the gift card

If the gift card was purchased with cash, it asked you also include:

  • Your full name
  • Your mailing address

If it was purchased using a credit card, please include:

  • The last four digits of your credit card or debit card
  • The expiration date of the card

The email address is the only way you can reach out, as Lindsey’s stated it “will no longer be responding via social media and won’t be in the building to answer phones.”

The restaurant has also officially been listed as “for sale or lease.”
