A new T.J. Maxx store opened this week in Acton, Massachusetts. The Framingham, Massachusetts-based parent company, TJX, plans several more openings this calendar year, with hundreds more to follow.

TJX also owns the Marshalls, HomeGoods, Homesense, and Sierra brands. All are money-makers and are experiencing growth.

A Growing Empire of Popular Off-Price Brands

Boston.com reported TJX is raising its long-term global store goal by 500 locations, to 7,500 stores worldwide.

Massive Footprint Across Massachusetts and New England

Marshalls operates 56 store locations in Massachusetts, including Brockton, Fairhaven, Raynham, and Swansea. Marshalls has six locations in Rhode Island, 25 in Connecticut, four in Maine, 12 in New Hampshire, and three in Vermont.

T.J. Maxx has 51 store locations in Massachusetts, including Fall River, North Dartmouth, Seekonk, Taunton, and Wareham. Rhode Island has six T.J. Maxx stores, Connecticut has 28, Maine has nine, New Hampshire has 16, and Vermont has six.

HomeGoods has 36 stores in Massachusetts, including Raynham, Seekonk, and Wareham. Rhode Island has six, Connecticut has 19, Maine has five, New Hampshire has 12, and Vermont has one.

Massachusetts has five Homesense store locations with none in the immediate area. There are two Homesense stores in Connecticut, three in New Hampshire, and none in Rhode Island, Maine, or Vermont.

Sierra has three Massachusetts locations, none in the immediate area. Sierra has one store in Connecticut, seven stores in New Hampshire, one each in Vermont and Maine, and none in Rhode Island.

What’s Next for TJX’s Global Expansion?

"TJX touts itself as an 'off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions," according to USA Today. "The first two T.J. Maxx stores opened in Massachusetts in 1977. TJX Companies was formed in 1987 and operates more than 5,200 stores in ten countries."

As of May, TJX operated 1,354 T.J. Maxx locations. The company has not disclosed where and when the 500 new stores will open and which brands will expand.
