
Wareham Woman Sentenced for Role in Fentanyl Overdose Death
BOSTON (WBSM) — A Wareham woman was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for her role in the overdose death of a 42-year-old man back in 2019.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Kayla Nightingale, 37, was sentenced to 52 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
She was also ordered to pay $7,868 in restitution to the family of the victim for funeral expenses.

Nightingale pleaded guilty in August 2024 to one count of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and one count of distribution of fentanyl.

She was indicted by a federal grand jury in October 2020 along with co-conspirator Troy Jones, 40, of Wareham. Jones was sentenced back in December 2024 to 92 months in prison, three years of supervised release following that, and also ordered to pay $7,868 in restitution.

Jones and Nightingale worked together from January 2019 through at least April 3, 2019 to distribute fentanyl in Wareham, including to the victim. The victim died from a fentanyl overdose on April 2, 2019.
