Bridgewater Man Facing Gun and Drug Charges Following Raynham Traffic Stop

RAYNHAM (WBSM) — A Bridgewater man was arrested on gun and drug charges following a motor vehicle stop in Raynham on Saturday night.

Tip at Local Hotel Prompts Police Investigation

According to Raynham Police, officers were investigating an unrelated incident at a local hotel when they received information that Ryan O’Day, 36, was allegedly in possession of a 9mm handgun.

On Saturday, August 1 at about 10:30 p.m., Officer Daniel Kelly located a vehicle registered to O’Day at a gas station on Broadway. Officers conducted surveillance on the vehicle and then stopped it on Route 138 after police said the officers saw that it had a defective license plate light.

Route 138 Traffic Stop Uncovers Loaded Handgun and Drugs

Police said neither the woman who was driving the car nor O’Day had a valid driver’s license, and the two were detained as police investigated. According to police, when they removed O’Day from the vehicle, a crack pipe allegedly fell from his lap. They said a subsequent search turned up a loaded 9mm handgun from a bag in the trunk, along with a holster, drug paraphernalia, and suspected fentanyl and crack cocaine.

Arraignment Scheduled in Taunton District Court

O’Day was arrested and charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition, possession of a Class A drug, and possession of a Class B drug. He is scheduled to be arraigned today in Taunton District Court.
