Wareham Man Sentenced for Selling Fentanyl to Man Who Overdosed
BOSTON (WBSM) — A Wareham man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to selling fentanyl to a man who then died of an overdose.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Troy Jones, 40, was sentenced to 92 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $7,868 in restitution to the family of the victim for funeral expenses.
Jones was indicted in October 2020, along with co-conspirator Kayla Nightingale, for selling fentanyl to a 42-year-old Wareham man. Jones and Nightingale worked together from January 2019 through at least April 3, 2019 to distribute fentanyl in Wareham.
The victim died from a fentanyl overdose on April 2, 2019.
In August 2024, Jones pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl resulting in death, and one count of distributing fentanyl resulting in death.
Nightingale pleaded guilty in August 2024, and is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 8, 2025.
