Update: Police ID Man Who Chained Himself to Office Door
A New Bedford man faces disturbing the peace charges after police said he caused a disturbance Wednesday at the Department of Transitional Assistance office in the South End.
A woman who was in the West Rodney French Boulevard office when the incident happened, told WBSM News, some folks were frightened.
Detective Captain Steve Vicente says Police arrived a short time later and were able to free the suspect's hands and led him away. He's identified as 35 year old Bernardo Torres of New Bedford. He was scheduled to appear Wednesday in New Bedford District Court.
