NEW BEDFORD — A homeless man is arrested after causing a disturbance.

New Bedford Police responded to a report of someone causing a disturbance at Bay Village Housing Authority apartments at 135 South Second Street, around 11:44 p.m. Thursday night.

When police arrived, they discovered 53-year-old Larry Christopher, who is homeless, had banged on the door so hard he broke the door handle and was frightening some of the neighbors. He also was screaming at the responding officers.

He was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and malicious destruction of property under $250.
