NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — A New Bedford man was sentenced to eight to 10 years in state prison for cocaine trafficking while also in possession of an illegal gun.

Johan Baez, 37, pleaded guilty in Fall River Superior Court to indictments charging him with trafficking cocaine, carrying an illegal firearm-subsequent offense, possession of a high-capacity feeding device, possession of ammunition, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Police executed a search warrant for drugs out of Baez's apartment at 336 Purchase Street in August 2021, where they found a kilogram of cocaine.
