NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford man previously convicted of both firearms and cocaine distribution charges has once again been arrested on similar charges.

According to New Bedford Police, detectives executed a search warrant on Friday, August 6, at 336 Purchase Street, No. 1. They say the target of the investigation was Johan Baez, 34, and that a search of residence and vehicle turned up a .40-caliber Glock pistol loaded with 12 rounds of ammunition in a 13-round capacity magazine, as well as approximately 965 grams of cocaine with a street value of over $75,000.

Police say detectives also located over 650 grams of marijuana along with THC cartridges, and a second 13-round capacity magazine and 13 rounds of ammo. Police also seized over $3,850 in cash.

Baez was previously convicted on firearm and ammunition possession charges in 2007, and for cocaine distribution in 2008.
