New Bedford House Fire Displaces Two Residents
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — Firefighters responded to Bates Street in New Bedford following a house fire that displaced two people.
On July 24, at 3:15 p.m., fire crews were called regarding reports of a fire extending from the front of 240-242 Bates Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters said they saw fire extending from the second-floor porch of a two-story, two-family home.

Additional crews found the fire had extended into the attic space, which required roof ventilation.
No injuries were reported, and two kittens were also saved from the home.
An investigation determined the cause was accidental.
The American Red Cross is assisting the two displaced residents.
