TAUNTON (WBSM) — A 19-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to the chest in a shooting incident Tuesday afternoon in Taunton.

Taunton Police Chief Edward Walsh said that the police and fire departments responded at about 5:30 p.m. on September 9 to 450 Somerset Avenue for a report of a person shot.

They arrived to find the teen suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken by ambulance to a trauma center with serious injuries.

Victim’s Identity and Condition Unknown

His name has not been released and there is no further information at this time on his condition.

Police Investigation Underway

Walsh said the investigation is active and is in its early stages. It is being conducted by the Taunton Police Detective Division with assistance from the Plymouth County Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
