Serious Route 18 Crash in Lakeville Leaves Motorcycle Rider and SUV Driver Hospitalized

LAKEVILLE (WBSM) — A motorcyclist and the driver of an SUV both suffered serious injuries in a crash this evening in Lakeville.

Route 18 Closed in Both Directions Following Lakeville Crash

According to Lakeville Police Chief Matthew Perkins, the police department and the Lakeville Fire Department are currently at the scene of a serious crash that occurred at about 6:24 p.m. on Route 18 (Bedford Street). As of this writing, the road is closed in both directions.

First responders arrived to find a Yamaha motorcycle had crashed into a Honda CR-V. The man who was riding the motorcycle and the woman who was driving the SUV were both seriously injured and taken to Morton Hospital in Taunton. Perkins said identifying information about each was unavailable at this time.

There were no other passengers either on the motorcycle or in the SUV.

Investigation Underway With State Police Assistance

The crash remains under investigation by Lakeville Police with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. Mutual aid was provided at the scene by Middleboro Police and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office.
