Taunton Family Turns Epic Halloween Display Into Fundraiser for Pediatric Cancer
The holiday season means it's time to grab the bins from the basement and decorate your home and lawn. Is it just me, or has Halloween really stepped it up when it comes to decor? Driving around neighborhoods, I'm in awe by the displays. Seriously, way to go, SouthCoast.
A Taunton Neighborhood Tradition Transformed Into a Community Destination
A Taunton family's annual tradition has evolved into a destination for family and friends. Now, they're doing some good and giving back to their community.
"We hope Duffy Drive Haunts can be a place where people come for the Halloween fun but leave having also helped support an important cause," Kendall Balderrama said.
Spooky Fun With a Purpose: Supporting The MTJ Effect & Pediatric Cancer Research
In the summer of 2026, the Balderramas took part in The MTJ Effect, a local organization that inspires young athletes to play with purpose, honoring children affected by pediatric cancer by playing a sport for them or in honor of them.

They believe in the organization so much, they even created a QR code for visitors to donate to The MTJ Effect to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research.
"The experience has had a tremendous impact on our family. We’ve met incredible families, our boys have gained a completely different perspective on the game they love, and they have learned lessons about gratitude, compassion and appreciating the opportunities they have that go far beyond the baseball field," Kendall said.

50+ Animatronics, Jump Scares, and a Walkthrough: What to Expect at 103 Duffy Drive
"Our display now includes more than 50 Halloween animatronics and props, thousands of lights, jump scares, and a fenced-in walkthrough that grows a little bigger every year," she said.

Kendall, Jamie and their two kids Logan and Hunter get to work early to turn their lawn into a spooky spectacle. "We usually start building in late August so that we can have a fully-lit street display by the end of September," Kendall said.

However, the Balderramas admit they're never fully finished, with a big push happening the week leading up to Halloween. They've added things like fog machines, props and other spur-of-the-moment finds they happen to stumble upon.
"We love seeing people pull up, get out of their cars, take pictures and enjoy something that has become a yearly tradition for our family and our neighborhood," Kendall said.
