Multiple People Shot at Taunton House Party, Police Say

UPDATE: The Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced this is now a homicide investigation after Zirovick Depina, 22, of Brockton was pronounced deceased Sunday morning. In total, there were eight people shot, all in their early 20s. One of the remaining victims is in serious but stable condition, and the others all suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

TAUNTON (WBSM) — Taunton Police are investigating a shooting in which multiple people were struck at an apparent house party early Sunday morning in Taunton.

Police said they received several 911 calls at about 12:37 a.m. on September 6 reporting shots fired and multiple people shot in the area of Weir Street and Sumner Street.

Officers responded and learned the shooting occurred at a home on Weir Street. Near the intersection with Sumner Street, they found multiple gunshot victims, who were then transported to area hospitals for treatment. The exact number of people was not released. Police also learned additional victims may have left the scene and sought medical treatment on their own.

“The exact number of victims and the extent of their injuries remain under investigation,” police said in a release. “There are no known fatalities at this time.”

The incident remains under investigation by Taunton Police and Massachusetts State Police.
