The Massachusetts State Police issued over 100 citations last week while enforcing the state’s Move Over law.

The operation, which took place in Bristol County and Worcester County on Thursday, was carried out by the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section.

There were 82 commercial vehicles stopped and four drivers were summonsed for operating on suspended licenses.

State Police say these enforcement efforts will continue in various counties across the state.

The Move Over Law, which took effect March 22, 2009, requires drivers approaching a stationary emergency or maintenance vehicle with flashing lights to move to the next adjacent lane if it is safe to do so, and, if it is not, drivers are required to reduce their speed.

Those who fail to comply can be fined up to $100.
