Mass. Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Recording Lindsay Clancy Trial Jurors

PLYMOUTH (WBSM) — A Massachusetts woman accused of recording jurors in the Lindsay Clancy trial as they left the courthouse in Plymouth has pleaded not guilty.

According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz, the woman – identified as Dawn Light, 56, of Sutton – pleaded not guilty today in Plymouth District Court to one count of aggravated intimidation of a witness.

Light was released on personal recognizance with the conditions that she stay away from the courthouse and grounds, stay away from the jury and witnesses in the case, and was ordered not to disseminate any photos or videos that are stored in the iCloud.

According to the D.A.’s Office, at about 4:16 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to assist with juror safety and security in the Clancy trial were notified by a court officer that a woman was allegedly recording jurors on her phone as they exited Plymouth Superior Court. They said the woman was parked in a restricted area reserved for court employees, even though she was not one.

Background of the Lindsay Clancy Case

Clancy is charged with three counts of first degree murder in the killing of her three young children. While she has admitted to killing them, she is claiming she is not criminally responsible due to her mental state at the time.

The Investigation and Discovery of the Deleted Footage

After receiving the report from the court officer, troopers went to the parking lot and found a blue Toyota Camry backed into the furthest space in the lot, which faced the restricted access area of the courthouse. The woman inside was identified as Light, and she told troopers that she was not a courthouse employee, but also that she did not see the signage saying it was a restricted area. She also denied filming anyone leaving the courthouse.

Light gave consent to troopers to look at her iPhone, and the D.A.’s Office said they found no photos in the camera’s gallery. However, when she was asked to show her recently deleted photos folder, troopers allegedly saw a video that showed people walking out of the courthouse earlier in the day. The D.A.’s Office said those individuals in the video were identified as jurors, and Light was placed under arrest.

She is next scheduled to appear in court on October 15.
