Pedestrian Killed on Route 25 in Wareham

A pedestrian was killed Friday night after being struck by a motor vehicle on Route 25 eastbound, in the area of Exit 2 in Wareham.

The victim, a 58-year-old Sandwich woman, was transported to Tobey Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

State Police said a 36-year-old Pocasset woman was the operator of the motor vehicle. She remained at the scene. No charges have been filed at this time.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. Friday night.

It's not known why the victim was in the roadway. The crash remains under investigation by State Police in Bourne and other agencies.
