Century-Old Boston Logan Airport Sends Most People to This Destination
It's as routine these days as the rising of the sun:
You buy a ticket, pack your bags, slog through security, board a plane and head out for a destination across the country or on the other side of the world, for business and for pleasure.
There's no place quite like a busy airport.
It's hard to believe this routine has been playing out at Boston Logan International Airport for 100 years. Massachusetts' largest airport marked a century of service in September 2023 and shows no signs of slowing down.
In Logan's early days it was used mainly by the Massachusetts State Guard and the Army Air Corps as a military base. Since then, it has grown into one of the busiest passenger airports in the United States. In 2020, it became the 19th busiest airport in the nation.
The travel destinations out of Logan seem just about endless. Between the passports and boarding passes, you can't help but wonder where everybody's headed as they take off over beautiful Boston Harbor.
Stacker compiled a list of the top 20 most-traveled-to domestic destinations from Logan. Unsurprisingly, over 500,000 passengers are escaping to warm weather locations such as Miami. Other major metropolises such as New York City are popular travel destinations for others. Neither Miami nor New York City come in at No. 1, though.
Take a look at the places people are going when they leave from Logan. The person beside you in the TSA line next time could very well be en route to one of these locations.
