Man Struck and Killed by Train at Attleboro Station

ATTLEBORO (WBSM) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in Attleboro on Tuesday afternoon.

Fatal Incident Details at Attleboro Station

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III said that Attleboro Police were dispatched to the MBTA station at 133 South Main Street at about 2:47 p.m. on July 28 for a report of a person struck on the train tracks.

The investigation revealed that a man was seen walking on the tracks at mile marker 196.95 between Track 2 and Track 4 as the train approached. He then walked onto Track 2, which was the track the train was on, and he was struck.

Route and Medical Examiner Investigation

The D.A.’s Office said the train had departed from New Haven and was traveling to Boston.

The victim’s identity was not released; the D.A.’s Office said identification will have to come from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The investigation is ongoing by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the D.A.’s Office and Attleboro Police.
