WARWICK, RHODE ISLAND (WBSM) — The Rocky Point amusement park may be long gone, but its flavors continue on in the food court of the Warwick Mall.

If you’re looking to taste it all again, well, “Come with your family…come with your friends…” Admit it, the jingle is stuck in your head now – although I bet you didn’t know there were additional lyrics that weren’t in the famous television commercial.

Back to the food: this past May, the Rocky Point Chowder House opened in the mall, ending a four-year drought without the delicious clam cakes and Manhattan-style clam chowder that made the park’s iconic Shore Dinner Hall a favorite for generations.

Sure, some of you might have ordered the fish and chips or perhaps even the “shore dinner” featuring baked clams, boiled lobster and baked fish. For those of us who just wanted to eat as quickly as possible to get back to the rides on the midway, though, it was clam cakes and red chowder all the way.

The Long Road Back: From Post Road to Warwick Mall

Even if you didn’t go to the park, there was the Rocky Point Chowder House, a fast food-style eatery on the other side on Post Road in Warwick. That eventually went away as well, but was revived in 2014 as a clam shack in the parking lot of the former Ann & Hope store not far from where the Chowder House once stood. It had a design reminiscent of the park itself, complete with memorabilia gathered on its grounds.

The clam shack lasted until 2022, when the property owners decided not to renew the lease. We were all thrilled in November 2025 when the news broke that it was returning in food court form. After a four-year hiatus, the mall location is once again ready to allow Rocky Point fans to travel back in time through food.

Testing the Menu: Authentic Red Chowder and Fluffy Clam Cakes

I stopped by on a recent Saturday afternoon and am happy to report that the chowder and clam cakes are just as I remembered them. There’s still plenty of chunks of clams, potato, and more in the red-broth chowder, and the clam cakes are just as fluffy and perfectly fried as they were at the park.

They didn’t even ask if I wanted tartar sauce for them, because any true Rocky Point aficionado is going to be dipping their clam cakes in their chowder.

What to Expect at the New Warwick Mall Location

Of course, there are other seafood options on the menu at the Rocky Point Chowder House, and all seemed to be decent-sized portions at reasonable prices. There’s no “shore dinner,” but you’re sure to have a dinner that will take you back to the simpler days when your only care in the world was keeping down everything you just ate when you got on the Corkscrew for the fifth time in a row.
