Rhode Island Couple’s Vacation Takes a Shocking Turn When She Unexpectedly Gives Birth
Can you imagine having a baby without knowing you were expecting? It happens. Not often, but it does happen, and it happened recently to a Rhode Island woman.
According to media reports, Lauren Siwinski and her partner Gary Glenn of East Providence recently traveled to the Tampa Bay area in Florida for some fun with friends before departing on a planned cruise. The best-laid plans don't always work out the way they're supposed to.
The pair had to cancel their cruise plans.

A Sudden Emergency Before Embarking
WPRI-TV 12 reported, "According to HCA Florida Brandon Hospital, the couple went to the emergency room when Siwinski started experiencing severe abdominal pain."
When they checked out, the duo had become a trio. Siwinski delivered a baby boy on Monday, July 13, 2026, without even knowing she was pregnant.

"When the woman went to the emergency room, doctors told her unexpected news: She was pregnant and in labor," according to Tampa's WFLA. "Hours later, she gave birth to a boy named Sebastian."
Zero Signs and a Stunned ER Team
The hospital said in a Facebook statement that neither Siwinski nor Glenn knew that she was pregnant: "She had been on birth control, and had experienced no signs of pregnancy," the hospital said.
Cruise Line Restrictions and a New Arrival
According to the Royal Caribbean blog, the couple had booked a five-night Royal Caribbean cruise to Mexico. The blog said most cruise lines have strict rules about traveling while pregnant since they don't have obstetricians on board.
Siwinski and Glenn were engaged in May and plan to wed soon.
Fox 13 Tampa reported, "The hospital said family members are already nicknaming the baby 'Cruise.'"
