Former Fun 107 Staff Member Writes Book About His Hair-Raising Paranormal Experiences
There’s a road not far from where I live that has been deemed the most haunted road in Massachusetts. Out of respect to the residents on that street, we will not name it in this article. However, I'd be lying if I said I don’t get the creeps when I drive down this sketchy road, particularly when we pass the old cemetery.
If you can relate to the feeling, you may want to check out a new book from a Fairhaven author named Tom Stewart.
My Paranormal Story was written by the former Fun 107 staff member who stopped by the studio Monday morning to talk about his debut book and a collection of true stories drawn entirely from his own real life paranormal experiences.
A Life Full of Unexplained Moments
Stewart admitted that his paranormal side was never something he advertised around the Fun 107 offices. "Once you open that door, you have to talk about so many things and explain so many things," he said. "It's exhausting." That desire to tell his stories without repeating them at every party is actually what led him to launch his podcast, My Paranormal Story, which now has roughly 80 episodes and eventually inspired the book.

Rhode Island's Most Haunted Places
Every story in the book is based in his native state of Rhode Island. Stewart investigated locations like Belcourt Castle in Newport, Sprague Mansion in Cranston, and the Paine House in Coventry. He also recounts personal experiences at Swan Point Cemetery in Providence and a stretch of time he spent unknowingly living in a haunted house in Providence, an experience he believes was the launching pad into his professional paranormal life.

Does He Ever Get Scared?
Not exactly.
"I get curious," Stewart said. "In a cautious way." His philosophy is that spirits are usually the ones who are scared and confused, and that most of what they do is an attempt to get attention rather than cause fear.
During an investigation at Fort Adams in Newport, a piece of stone was thrown from an empty, restricted room into the room where his team was standing. His reaction was not panic but reflection on why the spirit might not want them there.

The book is written in a conversational style Stewart compares to sitting around a campfire. "It's like I'm narrating it to you," he said.
It's available now on Amazon in paperback, hardcover, and ebook, with an audiobook version planned for the future. Stewart also has two upcoming book signings: October 16 at Nasketucket Bay Vineyard in Fairhaven at 6 p.m. and October 30 at Salerno's in Onset.
