DIGHTON (WBSM) — The Dighton Fire Department battled a garage fire at Main Street home early this morning.

According to Fire Chief Christopher Maguy, the department received a call at 4:20 a.m. today for a fire at 794 Main Street. Firefighters arrived at the single-family home to find a fire in the corner of the garage that had burned through the roof.

The firefighters quickly contained and knocked down the blaze, Maguy said, along with help from the Somerset and Swansea fire departments.

He said no firefighters or residents were injured, and that the residents were able to leave their home after being alerted to the fire by Dighton Police and passersby.

Maguy said the fire remains under investigation by the Dighton Fire Department and the State Police Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office.
