Dighton’s Bristol Aggie Receives Thousands for Cutting-Edge Science Project
Bristol County Agricultural High School is getting national recognition for its work in the classroom.
Representatives from the Toshiba America Foundation visited the Dighton campus on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, and presented a grant check in the amount of $5,853 to Science and AP Biology teacher Diana Hopkins.
"I am incredibly grateful for the generous support provided by the Toshiba America Foundation and for the opportunities it will provide to our students at Bristol County Agricultural High School," Hopkins said. "This grant will give our students the equipment to perform authentic DNA analysis experiments using gel electrophoresis techniques, bringing modern biotechnology directly into my high school classroom."
Bringing Cutting-Edge Biotechnology and DNA Testing to the Classroom
The grant funding will go towards “From Genes to Gels: Empowering Student Scientists Through DNA Analysis,” a project led by Mrs. Hopkins. It requires AP Biology students to explore modern molecular biology, analyze DNA, and make meaningful connections between the concepts they learn in the classroom and their applications in the scientific community.
