DIGHTON (WBSM) — The only sit-down dinner restaurant in Dighton, Massachusetts is permanently closing.

The 1712 Restaurant & Tavern announced on its Facebook page this afternoon that it is closing after six years in business.

“Well, all good things eventually come to an end. The 1712 restaurant will close on Saturday, April 26th. This was not an easy decision, but a decision that needed to be made. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to serve Dighton for the last 6 years. The friendships that were made here will continue on. To all of you that are still here, customers and employees, we love you and you are the best humans on this planet, it’s all of you that kept this place going when it was tough and we will be in each other’s lives forever. Take care and God Bless 💕💕”

A Legacy Built in Just Six Years

The 1712, located at 1881 County Street, opened in 2019 in the location that, according to The Herald News, had formerly housed Georgio’s and Sons Family Restaurant and Pub for the previous 45 years.

It took its name from the year that Dighton was incorporated as a town, and it took pride in being a place where the townsfolk could come together for good food, good drinks and good times.

Owners Lisa and Bruce Atwood built a following for The 1712 not only for its menu but also for its friendly staff and the spotlight it shone on the local music scene, with so many SouthCoast musicians getting the chance to take center stage there.
