Arrest Made in Fatal Dighton Hit-and-Run Crash
TAUNTON (WBSM) — The suspect connected to a fatal hit-and-run crash earlier this month in Dighton has been arrested.
According to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, police arrested Michael Laboy, 19, of Providence, at his place of employment in Taunton early this afternoon.
He is being charged with leaving the scene of a crash-death that killed Paul Demoura on April 4.
Dighton Police received a 911 call around 10 p.m. from an off-duty Taunton Police officer. The Taunton officer says he observed a man in the breakdown lane of Route 44 in Dighton.
The victim, later identified as DeMoura, was rushed to Morton Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to D.A. Thomas Quinn’s office, along with Dighton Police, have been investigating the matter since it occurred.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said Laboy will likely be arraigned sometime this afternoon in Taunton District Court.
