Deputy Sheriff James Creed’s Actions ‘Heroic’ in Taunton Rampage
Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph McDonald has released a statement concerning the actions of Deputy Sheriff James Creed.
Creed, off-duty Tuesday night, was having dinner with his wife at Bertucci's Italian Restaurant in the Silver City Galleria Mall when 28-year-old Arthur DaRosa entered the restaurant and began stabbing a waitress and several customers.
Sheriff McDonald says Creed "as an academy-trained officer...discharged a single round from his personal firearm, bringing the attack to an end." Creed remained at the scene to help the victims and DaRosa.
Sheriff McDonald praised Creed's actions as heroic, saying he is relieved "that through his swift and deliberate response, further additional loss of life or injury to other bystanders was averted."
