WAREHAM — Wareham Police are providing more information about a woman’s body that was pulled from the water at Parkwood Beach on Thursday.

Wareham Police tell WBSM News that at around 1:15 p.m., multiple emergency response agencies responded to Parkwood Beach for a report of an unresponsive person on the beach.

Bystanders were performing CPR on a woman near the shoreline as first responders arrived. She was pulled further onto the beach where EMS personnel took over patient care. The victim, a 58-year-old woman from Randolph, was transported to Tobey Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

A witness at the scene told Wareham Police that the woman appeared to be under the influence of alcohol before entering the water. After a while, she was observed motionless in the water and was brought to shore by other beachgoers in the area.

The incident remains under investigation, however, police say the death does not appear suspicious at this time.
