Wareham, MA Police Get 'Go Bags' for Active Shooter Situations

WAREHAM (WBSM) — The unfortunate reality of our world today is that an active shooter situation can happen anywhere and at any time.

The Wareham Police Department has taken a step to ensure its officers can offer the most timely response in case one develops in town.

Every Wareham Police cruiser is now equipped with an active shooter “go bag.”

“The ‘go bags’ are designed for rapid deployment for mass casualty incidents that will provide lifesaving care to victims,” police said in a press release.

Each bag consists of wound care, SWAT-T rubber bands (which are a type of tourniquet), additional tourniquets, collapsible gurneys, cutting shears and Stanley utility bars, which police said “will be used as a breaching tool in the event officers cannot reach victims inside an active attack event.”

The store manager of the Wareham Home Depot assisted police in obtaining the utility bars, police said.

The bags were purchased using state and federal drug forfeiture money.
