WAREHAM — A man is hospitalized after apparently being struck by a train Saturday night.

According to Wareham Police, on Saturday, July 13 at 8 p.m., Wareham Police Communications Officers Taylor Nelson and Nicolle Amaral received a call regarding a male struck by a train on the tracks near Hathaway Street.

Multiple police, EMS, and fire units responded to the area. Sergeant Paul Somers and Officers Lorenzo Grosso and Michael Phinney arrived first and found a 41-year-old Wareham resident with severe injuries.

The officers performed emergency medical aid until the arrival of EMS personnel. The man was transported to Tobey Hospital and then taken to a Boston hospital.

Police say the accident is currently under investigation.
