A Wareham man faces several charges after allegedly breaking into a town liquor store over the weekend.

Police responding to an alarm at the Jug Shop liquor store on Main Street early Sunday morning found the suspect in the store standing behind the counter. The suspect fled the store on foot, but was caught by police less than a quarter of a mile from the store.

Police arrested 19-year-old Ryan Hanscome who now faces charges of breaking and entering in the nighttime, larceny from a building, malicious destruction of property, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace.

Police say Hanscome did not have any items from the store in his possession at the time of his arrest, but lottery tickets and liquor were found outside of the store.

Hanscome was arraigned Monday morning in Wareham District Court.

Police are still investigating the incident, and looking into the possibility of a second suspect being involved.
