WAREHAM (WBSM) — Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Wareham this afternoon.

According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, it is not believed to be a random act of violence.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

Wareham Police said in a release that the portion of Main Street between Pierceville Road and County Road would be closed to through traffic due to the active crime scene.

The crime scene is under investigation by Wareham Police and by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.

Police said the scene is contained and that there is no threat to the immediate public.
