WAREHAM (WBSM) — Wareham Police arrested three people while conducting street-level narcotics enforcement.

Wareham Police Observe Suspected Drug Transactions

According to police, detectives were conducting enforcement on March 31 when they observed the occupants of two vehicles allegedly conducting drug transactions in the parking lot of Cranberry Plaza.

Police said the detectives “observed in plain view suspected ‘crack’ cocaine and drug-related paraphernalia” in one of the vehicles.

Cocaine, Fentanyl Found in Search

Nicholas Veelenturf, 38, of Harwich was in possession of a plastic lockbox and a large quantity of cash. Police obtained a search warrant for the lockbox and inside it found a large quantity of suspected cocaine, suspected fentanyl and various pills.

Suspect Faces Trafficking and Distribution Charges

Veelenturf was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine (36-100 grams), two counts of distributing a Class B drug, possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug, and possession with intent to distribute a Class C drug.

The two other suspects – a 35-year-old Buzzards Bay man and a 70-year-old East Wareham man – were each charged with possession. All three were arraigned in Wareham Fourth District Court on April 1.
