FALL RIVER — Massachusetts State Police have identified the victim killed in a crash involving an overturned fuel tanker on Route 24 in Fall River last week.

John Silva, 67, of Fairhaven, was identified as the driver of the tractor-trailer in Thursday's crash. Silva was killed in the crash.

One other person in a passenger vehicle was injured in the crash and transported to an area hospital. Their condition and identity are unknown.

Massachusetts State Police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Route 24 was closed down in both directions as a result of the crash, which spilled thousands of gallons of fuel onto the highway. The north and southbound lanes remained closed while HazMat crews cleaned up the fuel and investigators worked to clear the scene of the crash.
