BROCKTON (WBSM) — A man is under arrest for the alleged fatal stabbing of a Fall River man in Brockton Saturday evening.

According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz, Brockton Police received several 911 calls on July 20 at about 6:13 p.m. to report a stabbing in the park at the intersection of Crescent Street and Montello Street.

Officers arrived to find a male victim suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as Edmar Goncalves, 39, of Fall River.

Police were able to identify the suspect in stabbing at the scene as Johnny Richmond, 36. He was placed under arrest.

The D.A.’s Office said the investigation is ongoing but that it does not appear to be a random act of violence.
