Fall River Students Bake for a Cause to Support Animal Shelter
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — Students in Fall River are giving back to an animal shelter one baked good at a time.
Students enrolled in the Doran Community 21st Century School Learning Summer Program are utilizing their baking skills to help sheltered animals at Forever Paws Animal Shelter in Fall River.
It takes a lot of self-control to pass up an offer to enjoy any sweet treat, especially homemade ones fresh out of the oven.
However, in a Fall River's Public School Facebook post, first through fifth-grade students have decided to avoid their indulgences by sharing with the community the items baked in their summer program class instead.
"The students get to eat what they make but this year they also asked if they could give back to the community and came up with the idea of donating to the animal shelter," the post states.
On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, during lunch and dismissal, the students sell their treats, such as muffins, donuts, brownies and more to school staff and families.
With their deadline approaching, they are opening their business doors to partner with the public to raise funds for the animal shelter further through monetary donations.
If you are interested in helping, you can stop by the Doran School anytime before Tuesday, July 30.
All money raised will be donated that following day on Wednesday, July 31.
Kids stepping up and making a difference is always a highlight in the community, especially for a great cause in need.
Organizations like animal shelters can always use a little extra love, and the Doran students' baked sale contribution is one way to make that happen.
