FALL RIVER (WBSM) — Two people were arrested in Fall River Tuesday night after one of them allegedly fired three shots and attempted to hide from police.

Late-Night Police Response on Slade Street

According to a Fall River Police Facebook post, officers responded at about 11:30 p.m. on August 4 to the intersection of Slade Street and Scott Street for reported gunfire.

Investigators spoke with witnesses at the scene and the victim in the incident, and determined that James Hickey, 36, allegedly fired three shots near the victim. Dominique Starks, 34, was also allegedly involved in the incident.

Firearm Seized and Suspect Apprehended in Residence

Police said Hickey was found hiding in a nearby residence, and that a search warrant led to the seizure of a firearm and ammunition. He was taken into custody.

Charges Filed Against Repeat Offender and Companion

Hickey was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and unlicensed possession of a firearm (subsequent offense). Police said that he has prior convictions for drug and violent offenses and will be charged as a repeat offender.

Starks allegedly made misleading statements to police in order to help Hickey hide from them and was also arrested as a result. Police said she will face charges as well.
