Taunton Man Faces Fentanyl Charges Following Route 24 Traffic Stop
MIDDLEBORO (WBSM) — A traffic stop in Middleboro led to the arrest of a Taunton man for alleged drug activity.
A state trooper patrolling Route 24 southbound in Raynham the morning of July 10 saw the driver of a black Nissan using his cell phone while driving, which led to a traffic stop.
According to police, the driver, Joshua Bordes, 24, of Taunton, did not produce a valid license or registration for the vehicle.
While looking for the registration, Bordes opened the center console, which contained a large stack of U.S. currency wrapped in a band, an indicator of drug activity, police said.
Bordes was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody.
Police discovered Bordes had a suspended license and two active arrest warrants.
The Nissan was swept by a drug-sniffing K9, leading to the discovery of four bags of fentanyl totaling roughly 40 grams, police said.
In addition to the active arrest warrants, Bordes was arraigned in Taunton District Court on charges of trafficking in fentanyl, operating a vehicle with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle while holding an electronic device.
