
Taunton Woman Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Winthrop Street Identified
TAUNTON (WBSM) — A Taunton woman was killed in a motor vehicle crash Monday morning.
Emergency Crews Respond to 595 Winthrop Street
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III said that Taunton Police and EMS received numerous 911 reports of a serious motor vehicle crash in front of 595 Winthrop Street (Route 44) at about 10:10 a.m. on June 15.
They arrived to find a white BMW perched on a parking bumper in front of 595 Winthrop Street with catastrophic damage to the driver’s side. The driver and sole occupant was found outside the vehicle with traumatic injuries.
She was identified as Caicedo Gallego, 44. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Multiple Vehicles Involved in Severe Collision
A damaged black Kia SUV was also located behind the BMW. The male driver and female passenger were both taken to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The D.A.’s Office said a black semi-truck with a detached trailer was found to have been struck in the rear tire, and two other motor vehicles sustained minor damage as a result of the crash.
State and Local Police Launch Joint Investigation
The investigation into the crash remains active and ongoing by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the D.A.’s Office, the State Police CARS Unit, and Taunton Police.
According to a Taunton Police Facebook post, Winthrop Street was closed for close to six hours during the investigation into the crash.
