Wareham is offering a wonderful way to spend a Saturday evening. The town is hosting Sip & Stroll/Harbor Fest on Saturday, June 27, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Organizer Lorna Brunelle is promising great food, dozens of craft vendors, and a special evening on Wareham's waterfront at Besse Park.

Brunelle joined Townsquare Sunday this week to share some specifics about the event.

"Basically, we bring together about 100 crafters, food trucks, local restaurants, and the New England Bartending Association, and we put together a festival celebrating the arts and community," she said.

"We trademarked the name Sip & Stroll a few years ago, and have been managing Harbor Fest (formerly Oyster Fest) for the past couple of years, while the original promoters are taking a break," Brunelle said.

Brunelle said Wareham officials visited her Sip & Stroll event in Middleboro and invited her to bring it to Wareham. Brunelle, who grew up in the town and attended Wareham schools, readily agreed.

Food Trucks, Seafood, and Waterfront Dining

"We'll have 106 really cool local vendors, five food trucks, Warren's Harborview Restaurant will be serving seafood, there will be live music, face painting, and much more," she said. "This is an opportunity to grab something handmade or hand crafted, and it means so much that I have a blanket on my couch that somebody made by hand."

Supporting Local Crafters and Student Scholarships

There is no admission charge. Wareham Redevelopment is sponsoring the event. The event also raises money for student scholarships at the Burt Wood School of Performing Arts in Middleboro, which Brunelle operates.

"This is just a wonderful way to experience the beauty of Wareham, experience the community, and meet the local vendors and crafts people," she said. "It's a very family-oriented event, and if you're a foody, there will be something for everybody."
