WAREHAM — A man and a woman were arrested on Saturday morning in Wareham after taking part in a shoplifting incident in Bourne.

Wareham Police report that at about 9:15 a.m. Saturday morning, authorities were advised to be on the lookout for a vehicle involved in a shoplifting incident at CVS in Bourne.

A short while later, Wareham Police Officer Christopher Smith observed the vehicle on Cranberry Highway and attempted to pull it over. The vehicle quickly pulled into Garden Homes East, a mobile home park in East Wareham.

When the car came to a stop, the female driver, 33-year-old Amanda Felix, of East Wareham, jumped out and yelled something at the officer while the passenger moved into the driver’s seat. Felix tried to tell the officer that she was not driving, however, Officer Smith reports that he had seen her operating the car. It was later determined that Felix had a suspended driver’s license., and she was placed under arrest for operating after suspension.

The male passenger, 48-year-old Johnny Cortez, of Cambridge, was also placed in custody after it was determined that he had an active warrant.

Bourne Police arrived on scene to obtain information for possible charges to be filed in that town, and the stolen merchandise was recovered in the vehicle.

Both Felix and Cortez were transported to Wareham police headquarters for processing.
