Sex Offender Deemed Danger to Minors Arrested in Wareham
WAREHAM — A Level 3 sex offender in Wareham has been arrested.
Wareham Police obtained an arrest warrant on Wednesday for Ronald Franklin Jr., 59, of 3026 Cranberry Highway. Franklin is a Level 3 sex offender, which Massachusetts defines as “having a high risk of re-offending and pose a high degree of danger to the public." Police obtained the warrant after an investigation turned up evidence regarding Franklin's purported activities. The warrant was for the charge of dissemination of matter harmful to minors.
Police arrested Franklin at 6 a.m. on Thursday at the Silver Lake Motel, Franklin's listed address.
Franklin was arraigned that afternoon and was ordered held on $25,000 bail.
“The detectives received information into possible illegal activities involving Mr. Franklin and conducted a thorough investigation, leading to this warrant being issued,” said Acting Police Chief John Walcek. "I cannot stress enough the importance of our department protecting vulnerable populations, especially children. If we receive information that there are potentially harmful crimes involving minors the case will be aggressively investigated to ensure their safety.”
