President Obama says Americans have heavy hearts after the truck terror attack in Nice, France.

Speaking at the White House, Obama called it an horrific and sickening attack.

More than 80 people were killed in the attack and dozens of others were injured.

Obama noted that he called French President Francois Hollande to extend condolences and offer any assistance that may be needed.

The President said terrorists are murdering people of all backgrounds and all faiths, including Muslims.

He insisted that the U.S. and allies are determined to destroy terrorism.

Obama added, quote -- "We will not relent."

He argued that Americans cannot give in to fear or turn on each other, because that is what the terrorists want.

The President made his remarks at a previously-scheduled diplomatic reception.
