Politicians and other A-listers have for years vacationed on Martha's Vineyard. Some have purchased property, while others bunk with friends or rent friends' property while enjoying themselves on island time.

Bill and Hillary Clinton were regular visitors to the Vineyard during their White House years, as were Barack and Michelle Obama. Joe and Jill Biden prefer to vacation on Nantucket.

After leaving office, the Obamas purchased a place they'd rented the previous summer.

The Obamas purchased their dream home from Wyc Grousbeck, owner of the Boston Celtics, and his ex-wife Corrine Basler Groubeck, who bought the home in 1998.

People Magazine reported the Obamas paid $11.75 million in 2019 for the estate on Turkeyland Cove Road. The publication says, "The 6,892-square-foot property sits on 29.3 acres and features seven bedrooms, eight-and-a-half baths, and several stone fireplaces."

The house is near the edge of the Edgartown Great Pond and has spectacular ocean views.

My colleague Michael Rock published an article featuring dozens of "breathtaking photos" of the Obamas' Vineyard estate.

In addition to the seven beds and eight-and-a-half baths, Town & Country Magazine says the home, built in 2001, reportedly has "an elegant master suite complete with a fireplace, as well as two guest wings, a two-car garage, a sundeck, boathouse, and a pool."

While on the Vineyard, the Obamas enjoy mingling with Island residents and are often seen shopping, buying ice cream, biking and on the golf course.

Martha's Vineyard is about seven miles south of the Massachusetts coastline. The island has a year-round population of 20,530 people. It swells to over 200,000 people during the summer months. About 56 percent of the Vineyard's nearly 15,000 homes are seasonal.
