Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has stopped in Boston for a fundraising luncheon as he gears up for possible 2016 presidential campaign.

Bush met with area leaders Friday.

Former Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown posted a picture on his Twitter account showing him standing next to his wife and Bush. Brown said he was ``at lunch discussing 2016 possibilities.''

A spokeswoman for Boston-based Putnam Investments confirmed the fundraising luncheon was hosted by the company's CEO, Robert Reynolds.

Officials with Massachusetts Republican Gov. Charlie Baker's office say they were informed late Thursday about Bush's visit, but had no details. Baker didn't attend the luncheon.

Bush has formed a political action committee designed to lay the groundwork for a presidential bid. He's been meeting privately with donors across the country.
