The Fairhaven Shipyard will be installing sound barriers as part of an agreement with the state Department of Environmental Protection.

The Standard Times is reporting that the shipyard will build either an acoustic barrier wall or acoustic barrier "containers" to address noise and dust pollution issues at the North Yard.

The DEP sent copies of the agreement to nearby neighbors.

While the agreement doesn't describe how the wall or containers would look it does require construction within 30 days of receiving the necessary permits from the town.

The shipyard is also required to curb dust and particulate pollution.
