Dartmouth Dynamites Shine at Fenway With Unforgettable Experience
BOSTON (WBSM) — The Dartmouth Dynamites team hit a home run of a different kind when they experienced a Red Sox game like never before.
As the 2024 season wrapped up, the 10U girls' softball team celebrated with a memorable finale that capped off their year.
On September 11, the team packed up their cars and headed to Fenway Park to watch Boston's favorite team play, but in a more personal way, with thousands of fans.
The opportunity granted them a spot on the diamond, a chance to chat with some players, and the opportunity to walk away with autographs and signed merchandise.
"A lucky experience for these girls," head coach Mike Reynolds said.
He shared with WBSM that it was back in July when he first came across the opportunity. That's when he registered the team to potentially join the Red Sox during a game and participate in pre-game activities, including the national anthem.
Two weeks after entering, the team got a call announcing it had been chosen for the VIP experience.
"Even though it's after the season, I chose 9/11 as the date because I had a feeling they would do something special, usually like an anniversary," Reynolds said. "I knew it would be a great time for the girls to see."
While the thrill of being at Fenway was already a highlight, the surprises continued.
During the national anthem, the Dartmouth Dynamites were invited to the diamond, where they stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the Boston players.
On top of it all, the girls had a choice to bring a hat or a ball for players to sign, most deciding on a ball. Now that ball has become a cherished keepsake to commemorate the unforgettable moment.
Reynolds explained that this opportunity is a nod to the strength and independence he strives to promote throughout this team and organization. He believes that just as boys receive such valuable opportunities, girls also deserve them.
Not only was this experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the Dartmouth Dynamites, but it was also a moment for parents and the entire community to celebrate together.
